Complementary Wavelength Combination – for Enhanced Results
Each LightWalker model is a technologically advanced system built from the ground up with the most state-of-the-art and reliable technologies available. LightWalker’s “gold standard” dental laser wavelengths (1064 nm and 2940 nm) are produced by solid state crystal laser sources. With the choice of two complementary wavelengths (in terms of their effect on tissues) LightWalker comes very close to being a true “optimal” laser. Virtually all laser-assisted dental treatments can be performed with either the highly absorbed Er:YAG laser wavelength or the deeply penetrating Nd:YAG laser wavelength.
Latest Pulse Technologies – for Exceptional Performance
Fotona’s proprietary VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology raises the precision, performance and safety of dental laser treatments to the highest level. VSP allows practitioners to precisely control the laser pulse duration and its fluence according to the needs of the specific application, at the simple touch of a button.
LightWalker® and its groundbreaking ASP (Adaptive Structured Pulse) technology represent a cosmic shift forward for the medical and dental laser industry. This third-generation technology combines the unsurpassed range of pulse duration modes of Fotona’s VSP technology with the revolutionary capability of ASP technology to adapt the temporal structure of laser pulses to the bio-photonic dynamics of laser-tissue interaction.
Fotona’s patented QSP (Quantum Square Pulse) mode* allows the laser to ablate more efficiently and with greater precision. The improved ablation efficacy of QSP mode indicates that more of the laser energy is used for cutting and less is absorbed by the interfering debri or sub-ablation threshold of the surrounding dental tissues. This provides the means for improved cutting speed, finesse and comfort when treating hard and soft dental tissues.

What is FRAC3®?
FRAC3® is a three-dimensional treatment effect that seeks out minuscule, age-related imperfections in skin tissue. With FRAC3® more surrounding tissue remains unaffected, ensuring faster healing and less patient downtime compared to conventional fractional treatments.
What is PIANO mode?
PIANO mode is a new Nd:YAG bulk heating approach based on super-long pulse durations (0.3 – 60 s) which are longer than the thermal relaxation time of the epidermis and other skin structures such as hair follicles or blood vessels. Since PIANO mode does not cause high initial temperature peaks in the epidermis, it is the safest mode for reaching deeper lying skin tissues.
What is EFC?
EFC (Energy Feedback Control) technology is a core safety feature which actively monitors each individual pulse’s energy level to ensure that the output energy is exactly matched to the practitioner’s chosen parameters throughout the duration of each treatment session.
What is VSP?
VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology is a patented solution for generating square laser pulses for more controlled energy absorption. Pulse durations can be adjusted from 50 us up to 1500 us, depending on the practitioner’s needs. VSP pulse technology minimizes unnecessary laser energy absorption into body tissues and helps to ensure ultimate performance and patient comfort during laser treatments.
What is TURBO mode?
TURBO mode is an Er:YAG treatment modality that enables very large ablation depths to be achieved by stacking multiple pulses on the same treatment area. Turbo mode can be used to reach deeper into the dermis than traditional (non-fractional) resurfacing to achieve particular clinical effects.

FracRevive® Photorejuvenation
FracRevive® photorejuvenation is an easy-to-perform 2-step treatment that combines both full-spot brushing and fractional FracTAT® stamping technologies. It effectively reduces pore size, diminishes the appearance of pigmentation spots and wrinkles, and enhances overall skin texture while unifying skin tone.
FracTAT® for Rejuvenation, Pigments and Scars
The FracTAT® procedure in ablative mode enables deep resurfacing with minimal downtime, making it an ideal solution for acne scar revision, skin rejuvenation, and skin texture improvement. Additionally, FracTAT® can be performed in a gentler non-ablative mode, generating fractional microscopic lesions within tissues as a result of micro cavitations and plasma formation. These are rapidly healed by the intact surrounding tissue, leaving the skin refreshed with fewer imperfections.
Patented FracTAT® Tattoo Removal
In the Fotona FracTAT® tattoo removal procedure, micro-holes are drilled with a fractional laser handpiece (1), followed by treatment with a full-beam handpiece (2). Micro-holes reduce the frosting effect and pressure on the surrounding tissue and act as pressure relief ducts (3), allowing gases formed in the tattoo removal process to escape. This enables deeper pigments to be reached (4), leading to more efficient pigment destruction.
What is SMOOTH mode?
SMOOTH mode is a Er:YAG treatment modality that delivers laser energy onto the skin in a fast sequence of low-fluence laser pulses inside an overall super-long pulse of 200-350 msec. Because SMOOTH pulses are longer than the epidermal TRT, the effect of SMOOTH mode is gentle coagulative heating of the skin without any significant ablation of the epidermis.

OPTOflex®
Homogeneity of a laser beam is crucial for safety during treatment, as it ensures even energy distribution across the treated area. This may reduce the risk of epidermal damage, bleeding, tissue splatter, and transient skin texture changes. Achieving such homogeneity has long been a challenge in the laser industry due to the nonlinear nature of Q-switched lasers, but it is essential for optimal performance. The OPTOflex® articulated arm is designed to efficiently transmit the laser beam without losing energy or changing the beam’s original properties.
VERDE
Powered by advanced ASP technology, StarWalker® features a unique green long-pulse VERDE mode, specifically designed for the treatment of vascular lesions. It offers a range of long-pulse durations (15, 20, 30, and 50 ms) to effectively target blood vessels and vascular lesions of different sizes. The 532 nm wavelength aligns with one of the oxyhemoglobin absorption peaks, allowing for the treatment of superficial vascular lesions, while the 1064 nm wavelength can target deeper and larger vessels.
KTP VERDE also allows for safe and effective removal of freckles and sun spots in patients with Fitzpatrick skin type IV, with no long-lasting adverse effects. Full-face application of long-pulsed KTP can result in improved skin texture and tone.
StarWalker’s unique VERDE mode delivers 532 nm energy in long millisecond pulses designed for treating superficial vascular lesions.

StarWalker® MaQX Pro also delivers longer 1064 nm VERSA3 pulses with a range of durations (15, 20, 25, and 50 ms), which are clinically well-proven for a broad range of treatments, such as active acne, wrinkle reduction, hair removal, and the treatment of warts or onychomycosis.
Standard Q-switched laser systems cannot deliver Nd:YAG laser pulses in the ‘long-pulse’ duration regime.
